Our Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lake trek begins on our first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport.

While in Kathmandu, a short sightseeing tour, to catch an insight into local history, religion, and culture as an introduction.

After a pleasant time in the capital city of Kathmandu, then take a short scenic flight to Lukla. As the small plane lands at Tenzin and Hilary Airport, where our wonderful walk starts to Phakding. As the adventure continues following Dudh Koshi River, to enter Sagarmatha National Park, designated in World Heritage Sites. Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepal, the Sherpa calls Chomolungma of Tibetan origin language, both names mean a ‘Great Mother’.

On entering the park leaving the river down below, then head for an undulating climb to Namche Bazaar. A perfect place at 3,440 m high for rest and acclimatization day, while in Namche explore the scenic viewpoints.

From Namche Bazaar, a walk leads to higher terrain on a scenic trail within a beautiful woodland of rhododendron and pine trees. An exciting climb to a magnificent Tengboche, a scenic place with an impressive colorful monastery. Tengboche is surrounded by an array of snow peaks with views of Mt. Everest and majestic looking Ama Dablam.

After Tengboche onwards tree lines give away for short high altitude bush of juniper and dwarf rhododendron. As walk heads past the last permanent village of Pangboche, located beneath towering Mt. Ama Dablam.

Walk slowly enters a scenic Imjatse valley on reaching Dingboche for overnight stops, as well as acclimatization day. Enjoy a lovely short hike around the high hills of Dingboche facing views of Ama Dablam, Island Peak, Lhotse, and Nuptse. 

As far as Mt. Makalu in the east beyond Amphu Labtsa peak, from Dingboche adventure heads higher to Lobuche. Then finally walk leads on the foot of mighty Mt. Everest at base camp. A stunning spot, surrounded by remorseless fields of ice and glaciers with giant peaks of Lhotse and Nuptse.

At base camp standing close to massif Khumbu Ice-Fall, within incredible dramatic arctic zone landscapes. The next adventure leads to a steep tough climb on top of Kalapathar Hill the highest point of the journey. Rewards spectacular panorama of high snow mountain range facing closest views of Mt. Everest at a mere distance.

On completing the first phase of the adventure, the trek leads to the base of Cho-La pass at Dzongla. Next morning a steep climb to Cho-La, the pass forms the boundary of Gokyo and the eastern side of Khumbu valley.

After a tough haul on top Cho-La pass, long descent to the base around beautiful Gokyo valley. Walk on a gradual easy path past the 1st, and 2nd lakes then reach the third main lake of Gokyo. At Gokyo enjoy the glorious scenery located beneath Ngozumba the longest glaciers of Nepal Himalayas.

At Gokyo, option for a few hours hike to Gokyo-Ri in the early morning to catch the stunning sunrise. Includes superb panorama of the world’s four highest peaks namely Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, and Mt. Makalu.

From Gokyo Lake, completing all our major highlights downhill to Namche Bazaar and back into green vegetation and tree lines.

Having a refreshing time at the large settlement of Namche Bazaar, an easy down with few ups to Lukla. Staying in Lukla for last overnight around high Khumbu and Everest region. Day 15:         Kyanjinma 3, 650 m via Dole.

On first arrival in Kathmandu at Nepal International Airport received by our staff and guide, with warm Nepali traditional welcome. After, getting organized and then a short transfer to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. At the hotel check into your lovely rooms with refreshing rest after a jet-leg. Then join in with other members of the group, for briefing at meeting halls or garden. Our guide and leader will provide you with useful information regarding the trek, standard of lodge, foods and so on. If in doubt, can ask questions to make yourself at ease, after briefing enjoy the dinner in a typical Nepalese Restaurant.

Moring after a hearty breakfast, as per the time informed by our guide and staff our tour guide will meet. A short drive and walk in the heart of Kathmandu city, where the famous old Durbar Square located. An ancient palace and courtyard of earlier kings from Malla to former Shah Period. Interesting areas adorned with temples and old palace, as well with resident of famous Living Goddess the Kumari. Includes a temple of Kasthamandap, where Kathmandu name derived from, meaning a temple built from the wood of a single tree. The temples and monuments of Durbar Square, listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. After an interesting tour, a short drive leads west of the city to another famous landmark of Nepal. The Swayambhunath Stupa of Buddhist monuments, located on a hillock, one can enjoy views of Kathmandu city and the valley. The Stupa one of the oldest in Nepal and probably in the world of more than 2,600 years of history. After an impressive morning tour back to hotel, rest of the day preparation for the wonderful Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lake Trek.
Altitude of Lukla: 2,860 m/ 9, 384 ft. and 2,610 m / 8, 563 feet at Phakding. Meals Includes: Breakfast- Lunch and Dinner. Approx. 04 hours walks and 30 mins flight. Overnight at local lodge in Phakding. Morning an early flight to Lukla, having breakfast before departing from the hotel for Kathmandu domestic airport. After checking in board on a small aircraft for sweeping short flight to land at Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport. At Lukla after a short rest, start walk on gradual trail with downs and short ups past many Sherpa villages. An interesting walk around villages lined with religious monuments and prayer stone walls. After 3-4 hours of good walk reaching Phakding for overnight in the comfort of a nice lodge.

Major Information

Best Seasons:

The best seasons for Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lake Trekking, is in spring and autumn, spring begins from March to May. Autumn starts from September to November, the spring season with longer days due to much sunlight hours.

Days are mostly bright with sunshine for clear views and pleasant walking can get cloudy in the late afternoon. Chances of light rains and snowfall around higher elevations sometimes, the temperature drops in the early morning and night times.

During springtime, the hills are bright with wild flowers in bloom especially the rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal.

The next best season is autumn from September to November, days are much clear for views and walks. But days are much short due to sunlight hours, pleasant and peak times for trekking around the Himalayas.

Much colder morning and late afternoon till night time, chances of snowfall on higher elevation sometimes. One can trek in the low winter season from December to February, most days are crystal clear for views and walks but much shorter day due sun-light hours. Freezing temperatures in the morning, late afternoon and night times. Chances of snow-fall sometimes during winter times above 3,000 m high.

Culture, Religion & History:

The high Khumbu areas of Everest region populated by the Sherpa, highlanders of Everest and eastern Himalayas. The Sherpa’s are interwoven to strong Buddhism religion. Follows the ancient heritage and culture similar to its Tibetan predecessor, as the border to Tibet is at a mere distance.

The Khumbu villages have impressive monasteries, adorned with religious Buddhist flags and prayer walls with spinning wheels.
