Short Outline Itinerary

Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lake Trek is an ideal adventure for thrill-seekers and travelers looking to experience the majestic beauty of the Himalayas. This trek combines breathtaking views of towering peaks and the tranquil beauty of Gokyo’s freshwater glacial lakes.

Located at the foot of the world’s highest mountain range, this trek takes you through the captivating Khumbu Region, home to the legendary Sherpa community. You’ll be welcomed by warm hospitality as you navigate the challenging yet rewarding landscapes of the high Himalayas.

Epic Journey with EliteTreks

EliteTreks offers you an unforgettable journey to the base of Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth. Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Nuptse, as well as the iconic Ama Dablam and the massive Mahalangur Himalaya range.

The adventure begins upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour to immerse yourself in the local culture, history, and religion before heading to Lukla. From here, a scenic flight takes you to the trailhead in Lukla, where your trekking adventure begins with a gentle walk to Phakding, alongside the Dudh Koshi River.

Entering the UNESCO-listed Sagarmatha National Park (home to Mt. Everest), you’ll ascend to Namche Bazaar, a crucial acclimatization stop at 3,440 meters. Here, explore scenic viewpoints offering sweeping vistas of Everest and other peaks.

Climb Higher, Experience More

From Namche Bazaar, continue your journey through beautiful forests of rhododendron and pine. You will pass Tengboche Monastery, known for its stunning views of Everest and Ama Dablam. The trek continues past the last permanent village of Pangboche and on to Dingboche, where you’ll have another acclimatization day.

After Dingboche, ascend to Lobuche and finally reach Everest Base Camp. Surrounded by glaciers and towering peaks, this is where you’ll stand at the foot of the mighty Everest, with close-up views of the Khumbu Icefall. For a stunning 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, climb to Kalapathar, the highest point of the trek.

Gokyo Lake & Cho-La Pass

From Everest Base Camp, the adventure continues with a challenging ascent over the Cho-La Pass, which forms the boundary between the Khumbu Valley and Gokyo. After conquering the pass, enjoy the peaceful beauty of Gokyo Valley and its turquoise glacial lakes.

You’ll have the option to hike up Gokyo Ri early in the morning for a panoramic sunrise over Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu—four of the world’s highest peaks.

The trek concludes with a descent back through the lush forests to Namche Bazaar, followed by a final stop in Lukla before returning to Kathmandu.
