From Lukla to Everest Base Camp:
The shortest, swift route to Everest base camp is taking a short sweeping flight to Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport. Trek from Lukla to Everest base camp and back at Lukla takes an average of 11 nights and 12 days. Includes rest days for acclimatization and a short hike at Namche Bazaar and Dingboche on the most standard itinerary.
Covering a total distance of 124 k.m. or 77 miles both ways. An exciting walk after a flight from Kathmandu or Manthali / Ramechhap airport.
On the first day, we walked to Phakding village, and then to Namche Bazaar.
The walk continues, having a rest day at Namche Bazaar to Tengboche Monastery, then leads to Dingboche and up at Lobuche. From Lobuche to Everest base camp via Gorakshep, return route via Pheriche, Namche to Lukla for last overnight halt.
Next morning, direct flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, or at Manthali airport / Ramechhap and drive back to Kathmandu.

The Classic and Original way to Everest Base Camp:
Before Lukla airport was built in 1964 onwards and was properly paved in 2001.
Where early trekkers and mountaineers trekked from the old town of Jiri (also known as Switzerland of Nepal). A long walk to Everest base camp, but an interesting and exciting classic approach to walking through Solu to the high Khumbu region.
Takes about 8 days to reach Namche Bazaar, while taking a flight of 2 days walk. But worth the long trek enjoying both sides of the Solu and Khumbu regions as well as variation of cultures.
The Classic and Original route to Everest Base Camp starts with a long exciting drive from Kathmandu. Heading towards scenic Charikot town and then to Jiri, where the drive continues further to Shivalaya village. The walk begins heading up and down to Bhandar and Kenja villages then reaching a lovely Junbesi.
Located in the heart of Solu areas, the journey continues facing outstanding views past Nunthala and Khari-Khola villages. Then reach the high Khumbu region at Phakding and towards Namche Bazaar to reach Everest base camp.
Return journey to Lukla town for a short flight to Kathmandu or Ramechap and then drive back to Kathmandu. The total duration of 17 to 18 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu.
At present, one can drive straight to Salleri town or Phaplu to start the trek to Everest base camp. Ending at Lukla for flight back to Kathmandu or Ramechap, duration of 14-15 days treks with drives and flight.

Walk from Arun Valley from the eastern side of Everest.
Another classic trek to Everest base camp is from the eastern side of Everest, an enjoyable trek of great variation. A total duration of 17 to 18 days starts with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar town airport and ends at Lukla. An interesting walk from the low subtropical climate to cooler alpine hills and reaching the cold arctic zone at Everest base camp.
The walk begins after a short flight from Kathmandu to land at Tumlingtar airport. Located on the shelf of the Arun River that flows from the glaciers of Mt. Makalu and Barun Valley.
Walk leads from low warm farm areas to cooler hills crossing Salpa pass 3,350 m high reaching the Solu-Khumbu district. The walk continues to join the main trail of Lukla, Jiri, and Arun Valley route onwards to Namche Bazaar.
From Namche Bazaar on the main scenic trail to Everest base camp, return journey through Pheriche, Namche, and Lukla town. Then take a short scenic flight to Kathmandu or Ramechap, depending on the standard itinerary.

Higher routes crossing high Tashi-Labtsa La Pass from Rolwaling Valley to Khumbu / Everest.
Everest base camp trek can be done in more adventurous ways combining beautiful walks to the scenic hidden valley of Rolwaling. Located beneath majestic Mt. Gaurishankar and MelungTse peaks, the walk leads to the last villages of Bedding and Na. The adventure continues beyond Rolwaling valley enclosed by an array of giant peaks reaching Tsho Rolpo a large glacial lake.
On leaving the Rolwaling valley adventure leads to cross high Tashi-Labtsa close to towering Pachermo Peak. After a strenuous climb on top Tashi-Labtsa-La pass at 5,755 m high, then descend to Khumbu valley around Everest region.
Reaching the first village at Thame, the walk continues to cross another high Renjo-La pass 5,360 m to the beautiful Gokyo valley. A scenic spot with glacial lakes, then climb to Cho-La pass 5,240 m high and walk towards Everest base camp.
Return walks on the main popular trail through Pheriche, Tengboche Monastery to Namche Bazaar, and ending at Lukla at the last overnight halt. Next early morning a sweeping scenic flight to Kathmandu or Ramechap from Lukla. If flying to Ramechap, where 4-5 drives bring you back to Kathmandu.
Cross Sherpani / West Col from Makalu to Everest region.
Another exciting and adventurous route to Everest Base Camp and high Khumbu is from Arun and Barun valleys. A scenic short flight from Kathmandu to land at a low warm town in Tumlingtar airport.
An interesting drive to the mid-hills on leaving the Arun Valley towards cooler alpine hills through nice farm villages.
Adventure slowly heads beyond the last permanent village of Tashi Gaon for a complete Mountain Wilderness. Climbing high to Khoma-La pass and crossing Tutu-la, Shipton-la towards the beautiful hidden Barun Valley on leaving the tall tree lines.
Walking on a gradual uphill to Makalu base camp 4,650 m within the world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu, Chamling, and Baruntse Himal.
After good rest at Makalu Base Camp, the climb leads to traverse over high passes of Sherpani and West Col. At the height of 5,700 m then reaching Panch Pokhari around Hongu valley, the adventure continues to cross Amphu-Labtsa-La 5,780 m.
For all the passes to cross require fixed ropes and some mountaineering gear to tackle ice and rocky moraine. Completing all the high tough passes descend towards Imja Tse valley near Island Peak around Khumbu and Everest region.
From here onwards on the main popular trail to Everest base camp and in the comfort of nice lodges. Reaching Everest base camp, return journey on an easy downhill and slow up to Tengboche Monastery back within green woods.
Walk follows down to the famous Namche Bazaar and towards Lukla town for the last overnight around Khumbu and Everest region. A scenic flight brings you back to Kathmandu, after an exciting adventure from Makalu to Everest base camp.
Gokyo valley to Everest base camp via Cho-La Pass.
One of the exciting adventures to reaching Everest base camp is a trek to scenic Gokyo Valley and its glacial lakes. The walk leads on the popular main trail from Lukla to Namche Bazaar and then the route diverted towards hidden corners.
Reaching picturesque Gokyo Valley, a beautiful land enclosed by towering peaks and lakes. Spending time at Gokyo with a climb to Gokyo-Ri for a superb panorama of Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, and Makalu. Leaving Gokyo valley, climb across the high Cho-La pass 5,420 m, a long descent leads you back to the main trail. On arriving Lobuche and Gorakshep then follow the rocky glacial trail to Everest base camp. The return route is a long descent to Pheriche and Pangboche then climb back into tree lines at Tengboche Monastery.
After a wonderful scenic moment at Tengboche then down and up towards Namche Bazaar. The walk continues heading downhill towards Lukla for the last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest region.
The next morning a short scenic flight brings you back to Kathmandu, after a memorable adventure to Everest base camp.
